The demo uses the favicon.js library to cycle through each image. It works by appending favicon.ico to each domain (all websites with favicons include a favicon.ico for maximum compatibility, even though most browsers allow them to be held at any location, and refernced with <link> tags).
This demo is just for fun (your own idea of "fun" may vary). I can't see any reason why you'd want to do something like this in a real website and it's not the main point of favicon.js! I'm not affiliated in any way with the default sites here and they hold the copyright to their respective favicon images. If anyone has a problem with hotlinking to their favicons, please mail me.
